Fueled By Fashion - How has the concept of power dressing evolved for the modern professional woman today?

Nidhi Yasha - Clothes hold power…I’ve seen an actor find a character through a costume before saying a single line. I’ve seen women stand differently in a perfectly cut jacket. Clothes alter behaviour, posture, memory, even courage. The difference today is that power dressing isn’t about looking intimidating anymore. It’s about wearing something that makes you unmistakably yourself.

A garment can change posture before it changes appearance. It can make you walk into a room differently, speak differently, negotiate differently. The modern woman isn’t dressing to impress the room, she’s dressing to become the version of herself she needs to be that day.

Fueled By Fashion - What wardrobe essentials should every professional woman include in her wardrobe that are staple yet versatile ?

Nidhi Yasha - I’m bad at suggesting uniforms because women aren’t standard templates and one size doesn’t fit all. But I do believe in buying fewer items and expecting more from them in return.
Always look for clothes that are of high-quality
A crisp white shirt that doesn’t feel too formal. Trousers that fit your everyday life. Shoes you can actually think in. Basically clothes you can think, move, flow and dance in..

Fueled By Fashion- What styling techniques can instantly elevate a work outfit to make it look more polished and high-end?

Nidhi Yasha - People think luxury is all about adding but I’ve always believed it’s about curating. Better fit, better fabric and better proportions. Accessories that talk to each other and don’t fight with each other for the spotlight..

Restraint is surprisingly expensive… I struggle with it too sometimes as I am such a maximalist, but I like to have pieces put together that can hold a conversation.. even if they aren’t from the same world.

Whatever you do.. please step back and seek visual harmony.. even if you’re working with two different ends of the spectrum. Don’t be afraid to go to work in a leather blazer and a lace bralette if that’s your thang, but make it look like they are having a great time together.

Fueled By Fashion - In an era of quiet luxury and minimalism, how can power dressing be made timeless rather than dependent on fleeting trends?

Nidhi Yasha - I don’t think timelessness has anything to do with beige or minimalism for that matter.

Trends are wonderful visitors but terrible house guests.

I always ask myself one question, will this still feel like me five years from now? If the answer is yes, it’s probably worth owning. It could be anything. It has to be me. Now or 20 years hence..

Fueled By Fashion - In what ways are Indian women redefining power dressing today, mostly through the amalgamation of traditional Indian craftsmanship along with contemporary corporate fashion?

Nidhi Yasha- The exciting part isn’t that Indian women are wearing handloom or craft into boardrooms. It’s that they’re no longer treating it like a statement.

We have some of the richest textile traditions in the world. Why wouldn’t they sit comfortably beside contemporary tailoring? That’s not fusion. That’s just our honest, confident existence right?
